The Cage That We Live In by E

At first listen, there's a sense of impending uncertainty and dread in Peppermint Heaven's "The Cage That We Live In", which would normally mark this as one we'd skip, but it's done so entrancingly well that the introspective lyrics fall onto this lush landscape of full, rounded sounds and warm beats in a darkly optimistic sense that has us transfixed. The whole time too honest lyrics and dark undertones are dragging you back, the rest of the track, and video, are stubbornly pushing forward, hinting at light and pulsing with a hypnotic sense of self you'll have to watch a few times to get.

Big Girls by E

The irrefutably sweet synth in Sophie and The Bom Boms latest single dances around prominent beats and fun hooks so playfully that it'll have you moving in seconds. "Big Girls" is a song to turn up and dance around to, especially when you hit that just so, so sweet bridge that's got just enough of a throwback feel to make the whole thing addictively fresh.

Plus, any track that so smoothly references Veronica Mars in under a minute has our vote; don't miss out on this one.

Modern Day by E

Something earnest in the vocals and honest in the riffs has us anxious to hear more from Stockholm based Factory Brains.

Compelling lyrics melt into yearning beats and hypnotic riffs so easily that the track's as catchy as it is hitting; you'll be glad to have a chorus this good stuck in your head (for the next several days).

Head to the sites and look for Factory Brains' forthcoming album, Hard Labor, to be released at the end of February.
