Fable Cry's "Onion Grin" offers up lyrics just dark enough to churn your stomach with their implied unpleasantness at the same time that the music itself is presented with such measured precision and gorgeous ease that the band's sound maintains a near cult-like quality to their catchy hooks making it so easy to listen to, in spite of lines that feel soured and just right for dark nights.
Derisive but intrinsic, Fable Cry's music is a weird mix, but it all works out with such aplomb that it's like watching a car crash that turns out to be a perfectly staged film scene for a Sundance feature short.
