I've always been drawn to a good underdog story. Maybe it's because at times I've seen a piece myself in those stories, or maybe it's because I'm moved by the image of someone who struggles but does so with grit and the potential to prevail against great odds.
I've tried to write this song a few times. I'm glad I waited. I don't think anyone is ever ready for their dreams to come true. I know I wasn't. All I've ever wanted to be was a songwriter. When I finally got the chance, it happened so fast, I didn't fully appreciate how lucky I was.
I've been known to talk about the songs I've written. Sometimes I'm asked to and other times I just feel like talking. If I'm being completely honest though, I don't feel so desperately inclined to speak about "Ohio".
