Tribute to Viola Beach - Press Release by E

Following the tragic passing of Viola Beach and their manager Craig Tarry, a campaign is being driven by friends and family to propel the Warrington band’s debut single up the charts.

The band's independent, self-released single, “Swings and Waterslides” is being pushed with the intent of sharing the band’s music with a wider audience of future fans. The hope is that in spite of Saturday’s tragedy, the music the band worked so hard to create can still reach and be enjoyed by as many people as possible.

The campaign was spearheaded by friends and family on social media, where tributes have been pouring in from all over the world.

The track is currently sitting at number 4 in the UK iTunes charts.

Viola Beach - Press Release by E

Warrington band Viola Beach - Jack Dakin, Kris Leonard, Tomas Lowe, River Reeves and their manager Craig Tarry - tragically passed away on Saturday 13th of February following a road accident in Stockholm, Sweden.

They were a truly great team of  young men and about to the take on the world together. The four piece recently put out their second single 'Boys That Sing' on the 22nd of January on Communion Records.

All proceeds made from the single will be donated from Communion Records to the band and Craig’s families.

Ian Grimble, Producer: ‘I first became aware of Viola Beach through their single "Swings & Waterslides" and was very taken by the energy and vibrancy that jumped out of the speakers.

Upon meeting them for the first time, along with Craig their manager, I could soon see why, their exuberance and determination to scream out to the world was overwhelming. This combined with undoubted talent and an incredible work ethic for ones so young made every long hour in the studio from then on very rewarding indeed.

It is with great sadness that we will not be able to see them grow from the spark that they are now, into the raging fire that they so desperately desired to become.

They were a young band who wrote about what they knew, a legacy for new young bands I hope.

"And she told me that she loves a boy who knows how to sing, so I Iearned how to sing"

And how they sang.

My thoughts are with their friends and family right now’.

Wild Nothing - A Woman's Wisdom - Press Release by E

Next week Wild Nothing, a.k.a the now LA-based musician Jake Tatum, will release Life of Pause, his third studio album and much anticipated follow up to 2012’s Nocturne, via Captured Tracks  / Remote Control Records. In the lead up to the release, Tatum has premiered new single "A Woman's Wisdom".

Over the past few months, in an effort to gradually encapsulate listeners in the album’s depth’s and complexities, Tatum has shared a series of singles; breezy and dreamy "TV Queen", jagged, bass-heavy "To Know You", and "Reichpop".

When Jack Tatum began work on Life of Pause he had fascinating ambitions. “I desperately wanted for this to be the kind of record that would displace me,” he says. “I’m terrified by the idea of being any one thing, or being of any one genre. And whether or not I accomplish that, I know that my only hope of getting there is to constantly reinvent. That reinvention doesn't need to be drastic, but every new record has to have it's own identity, and it has to have a separate set of goals from what came before.”

In California, at Monahan’s home, Tatum collaborated with Medicine guitarist Brad Laner and a crew of saxophonists. From the hypnotic polyrhythms of "Reichpop" to the sugary howl of "Japanese Alice" to the hallucinogenic R&B of "A Woman’s Wisdom", the result is a complete, fully immersive listening environment.

Life of Pause is an exquisitely arranged and beautifully recorded collection of songs that marry the immediate with the indefinable. “I allowed myself to go down every route I could imagine even if it ended up not working for me,” he says. “I owe it to myself to take as many risks as possible. Songs are songs and you have to allow yourself to be open to everything... At the end of the day it still sounds like me, just new.”

Wild Nothing's Life of Pause will be released on Friday 19th February 2016 via Captured Tracks / Remote Control
