They Might Be Giants Announce New Album and Return of Dial-A-Song by E

They Might Be Giants have released their new single "All Time What" and announced the release of their new album, I Like Fun, available January 19, 2018.

Songwriters and band founders John Linnell and John Flansburgh drew on the themes of dread, death, and disappointment and set those to driving music for this 15-track album captures the intensity of the band's live shows. The album's release also coincides with a world tour that starts in the US - see those dates here.

They Might Be Giants has launched a fan video contest for lead album single “I Left My Body”. All entries to be submitted by March 1, 2018. Winners will be announced shortly after that and the winning video will be posted on dialasong.com as well as TMBG's YouTube channel. 1st place winner receives $3000. 2nd and 3rd place winners each receive $1000. All 3 winners will get a suite of free software from Red Giant. All judging will be done by the great Open Mike Eagle. Full details here.

2018 will also see the return of TMBG's Dial-A-Song service, with weekly installments toll free at (844) 387-6962, www.dialasong.com, and on streaming sites everywhere, featuring new music all year long!

The Regrettes Live by Guest User

LA-based punk rock band The Regrettes opened for Sleigh Bells at Mezzanine in San Francisco November 16th with a kick-ass performance. Consisting of frontwoman Lydia Night, guitarist Genessa Gariano, bassist Sage Nicole, and drummer Maxx Morando, the band's songs stem from Lydia's unabashed attitude towards her own personal experiences and that transitions into their powerful sound: this band says what they feel, means what they say, and plays like they're having the time of their lives. The sweetest part of the performance was when they brought out a box of doughnuts ("he doesn't like cake" - Lydia) on stage for drummer Maxx Morando's 18th birthday, the crowd singing happy birthday while he blew out his candle.

The Regrettes gave off an incredible energy that transmitted to the crowd and got them jumping around and dancing. One definite crowd pleaser was "Seashore" which they dedicated to Trump; I suggest you listen to that song if you too are feeling particularly angsty towards a Trump presidency. "Hey Now" and "A Living Human Girl" had us swaying and jumping to the beat (and are my two favorite singles they've put out). Their studio versions and live performance sound virtually the same, though, with this band, the experience of being in the crowd and having Lydia come down from the stage and dancing with us is just pure fun. The '60's inspired guitar riffs coupled with their punk rock mentality will continue to draw a crowd and leave fans and listeners waiting excitedly around for their full album, to be released in early 2017.

Courtney Taylor-Taylor on "STYGGO": "The world is full of corporate billionaire scumbags who pollute the earth, kill wildlife, cause cancer, secretly running nations into the ground, and the moronic masses who just agree with their mindless slogans and will never fight the good fight to help to stop them until finally the last blistered blind three armed mutant dregs of humanity eat each other's putrid flesh in mankind's final nauseating death throws..."

The Dandy Warhols return with the second single "STYGGO" from Distortland which is due April 8th via Dine Alone Records. On April 1 they kick off a worldwide tour in support of Distortland.
